"A portrait of my children, once a week, every week."

We ended our year with a 12 mile hike to/from the lodge in Amicalola Falls State Park... What a lovely way to start the new year! It was fun, relaxing, invigorating. In other words, we can't wait to go back! 2016, we are ready for you... Bring it on!

What a fun year this was to visit our state parks. We definitely took advantage of the parks in our neck of the woods:

Providence Canyon State Park
Camping at Black Rock Mountain State Park
Also in Florida, camping at Topsail Hill State Park for Memorial day weekend and Labor Day weekend

Happy new year everybody!

She: Scored this year... She's got the motherload
He: Also got the motherload (including a tablet) but I especially loved that he received his daddy's Star Wars action figures. Thanks Grandma!

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas! I hope Santa was good to all of you

Through their eyes - Bermuda

As in previous years we (as documented here, here and here) left the Thanksgiving hoopla behind in search for a change of scenery. This year we went to Bermuda. I was a little worried that being there in the low season (and technically winter) would not be a good time of the year to enjoy ourselves the way I'd hoped (you know, sun bathing and beach bumming)... I was so wrong... It was the perfect time to go! The beaches (ahh the beaches) were all to ourselves, the water was a little cold but that didn't stop us from getting in and enjoying every minute of it. It was simply lovely...

Here without further ado, I leave you with some favorites from Bermuda:

The beaches. Let me start by saying that the apartment that we rented has the best location possible... Right across from it was South Shore Park... with the most beautiful string of beaches in Bermuda... What can I say, pink beaches (yeah, they are really pink) turquoise water and they were all to ourselves... Wait, I already said that, didn't I?

Jobson Cove and Horseshoe Bay were our favorites

Hanging out in Hamilton

And Saint George

Of course, more beach bumming at the famous Tobacco Bay

Boat ride to the Naval Dockyard

Hiking, exploring and having a good old time at the Blue Hole Park

Visiting Crystal and Fantasy caves... Incredible

I wished we would have had more time to see even more of Bermuda. The people were super nice. Made us feel so welcomed and so helpful... A great place to visit for sure.

Want to see other places we've been during our Thanksgiving break?

Southwest Texas - 2014
Mexico City - 2013
Arizona - 2012
