This past week can be described as the week from hell. So we are looking forward to the holiday weekend. For starters, the husband and I are going on a date night... Looking forward to dinner at Pricci... and the Improv club after that. Saturday will be all about the little man's birthday. We are hitting the car early in the morning to go to North Carolina for whitewater rafting... It's going to be fun. Sunday we'll hang out with our neighbors... And Monday... I am hoping to stay in bed late and do absolutely nothing...

I hope your weekend is good for you too

Rugelach, again

I have given you Almond Rugelach, and I have also given you Chocolate Rugelach... What if now I give you Pistachio Rugelach? Sound good right? Inspired by our trip to Turkey... Where every dessert seems to have pistachios on it... My favorite nut.

You know the drill... Here is the links to the recipe, replace the grounded almonds for grounded pistachios... Made even better with Turkish tea... Now we're talking...

Canadian Red

As documented via Instagram

I couldn't help but being reminded of my post about Scottish blue (remember? See it here). As the matter of fact, the town of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia reminded me of East Neuk, Scotland... They are both charming

Key lime milkshake

Because we had it on our trip to Florida... And I was awesome

Key lime milkshake:

I carton (1.75 pint of vanilla ice cream)
1/2 cup of freshly squeeze key lime juice

In a blender (mine came with a milkshake attatchment so additional liquid was not necessary) mix the 2 ingredients until completely blended... Enjoy it right away for a different yet delicious milkshake.

What's in the bag?

A kid's bag... I thought I give you a little peek of what Miss V keeps in her day bag when we go on a hike... A 9-years old survival kit:
A sweater/scarf for chilly mornings
Sketch book/Colors and sketching pens
Snacks/Water
I let her borrow my point a shoot... We can never have too many pictures...

Through their eyes - Canada Part II

Back for more favorite activities from our trip to Canada, today: New Brunswick:

Being mesmerized by the tides in the Bay of Fundy, I mean... Look at this... You could be hiking on a beach and a few hours later it is completely cover in water

At Hopewell Rocks
And in Alma

Boat tour on Grand Manan Island with these awesome guys - We saw whales, bald eagles, went fishing and pulled lobster traps among other things... It was a lovely afternoon

A personal tour of a lighthouse - Grand Manan Island

Enjoying really delicious picnics in beautiful surroundings (that's not news) but this one takes the cake for us landlocked/lobster deprived people: We got a lobster, some sides, the best sticky buns and voila... The best picnic ever. Nothing beats it when your child squeals with joy and he says... Look mom, lobster guts... Yum!
Looking for beautiful rocks at Cape Enrage - Friends, it's the little things... I must tell you... All these little treasures made it all the way home... Their backpacks were at least 5 pounds heavier
Hiking Fundy National Park - Our favorite hike being Shiphaven... Simply stunning

I hope you like my little compilation of favorite activities with the kiddos when we visited Canada. We loved it there. I can't wait to go back for more.
